Born February 1, 1921 in Fogo, Cape Verde, she was the daughter of the late Antonio Santos Pires and Maria Silva Pires. She is survived by her children, Joaquim Fontes, Vericio Fontes, Florencio Fontes, and the late Aurora V. Fontes.
